Known bugs
This page lists the issues in Quilva that we are currently aware of, along with workarounds where one is available. We are always working on fixes, and each is resolved as part of a regular update.
When a bug is fixed, it is simply removed from this list. We don't keep an archive of resolved issues here, so everything you see below is still outstanding. If you've found a problem that isn't listed, please report it — every report helps.

Compass
Compass doesn't always refresh after switching tabs
After moving between tabs (for example, from the Planner to the Writer), the Compass sometimes fails to show the latest card information for the current scene. The underlying data is correct; it's purely a display refresh issue.
Workaround: click on another scene, then back to the original one. The Compass will refresh and show the correct information. -
Publisher
Newly created styles missing from the list in Styled Book mode
In the Publisher's Styled Book mode, newly created styles don't always appear in the full list of styles. Again, this is a refresh issue rather than lost data.
Workaround: switch the mode from Styled Book to Quick Publish, then back to Styled Book. The full list of styles will then appear. -
Writer
Spell check doesn't work when viewing multiple scenes
Spell check is currently only active when working on a single scene. Quilva is designed around working one scene at a time, and that's the mode in which it has been most thoroughly tested. Multi-scene view is best used for reading through and checking flow. A fix is planned.
Workaround: view and edit one scene at a time whenever you need spell check. -
Import
Formatting differences in imported documents
Documents imported from Word, Scrivener and other applications may show some formatting inconsistencies compared with the original. Every format handles styling differently, which makes perfect conversion difficult, but we're continually improving the reliability of our importers.
Tip: after importing, give your manuscript a quick look-over and tidy any formatting that hasn't carried across as expected. -
Assets
Newly installed assets don't always appear straight away
After installing new assets, such as styles, fonts or templates, they may not show up in Quilva immediately.
Workaround: restart Quilva after installing new assets, and they should then be available. -
Writing Goals
Daily Writing Goals don't count words written earlier that day
If you set up Writing Goals partway through a writing day, the daily tracker only starts counting from that moment. Anything you wrote earlier that day won't be included, so it may report "0 words written today", or a lower figure than you've actually written. Scene, chapter and project totals are unaffected and always accurate. From the following day onwards, the daily count works correctly. A fix is planned.
Workaround: where possible, set up your Writing Goals before you start writing a project. If you set them up mid-project, the daily figure for that first day will be incomplete, but it will be correct from the next day.
